I’ve always wondered why this question was the most popular and asked on Facebook. It seems that both the omni directional antenna and directional antenna are the same technology, and the question is just a marketing ploy to get people to buy the omni directional antenna.
The omni directional antenna works by having a small antenna that can pick up signals from many different directions on the same frequency. However, the directional antenna works by having a very large antenna that is designed for picking up waves from only one direction. This is useful if you wish to have a large area of coverage but still have only one transmitter.
The difference between an omni directional antenna and a directional antenna is that a directional antenna is a more common one (and thus far less likely to be used in actual installations!). The omni directional antenna can be used to pick up signals from a single transmitter, but the directional antenna can be used to pick up signals from hundreds of antennas.

If you have omni antennas, you are not receiving signals from both of you simultaneously, but you are able to receive signals from both of you at the same time.
Yes, omni directional antennas are actually one of the most reliable ways to receive signals from both of you simultaneously, even if the signals you’re receiving are from the same transmitter. With omni directional antennas, it’s a matter of whether or not your signal is strong enough to get through the transmission range of your antenna.
